Dr. Yoolim Kim
Dr. Yoolim Kim was born in South Korea and moved to Illinois with her family when she was 10 years old. In 2001, she graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor's degree in general biology. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2006 from Southern Illinois University – School of Dental Medicine. In 2009, Dr. Kim completed her 3 year surgical residency in periodontics and implant surgery. During her residency, Dr. Kim conducted research on dental extractions and bone grafting. Upon completion of her research, she defended her thesis and was awarded a Master’s of Science in Dental Research degree from St. Louis University.
Dr. Kim served as faculty in the department of periodontics at Southern Illinois University – School of Dental Medicine for 3 years. Through presentations, Dr. Kim has educated dentists and hygienists about periodontal medicine and implant therapy. Even after joining a prestigious periodontal practice near the University of Illinois in 2009, she served as a faculty instructor in periodontics for the dental hygiene program at Parkland Community College. Her passion for knowledge and education is further reflected in her participation at several continuing education courses annually. She is also very active in the dental community through her humanitarian work.
Dr. Kim is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. She achieved her board certification in 2010. Dr. Kim maintains membership in several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Colorado Dental Association, and the Metro Denver Dental Association.
Dr. Kim joined Denver Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in January 2016. She resides in Lone Tree, Colorado. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering and has worked with Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM), Illinois Mission of Mercy, Give Kids a Smile and the Jamaican Dental Mission Service. She also enjoys going to the movies, attending performing arts productions and traveling to visit family and friends. Dr. Kim and Dr. Richardson trained together in dental school, residency, and their master’s programs. They share a common philosophy in how they treat their patients and staff. They hope to treat everyone with compassion and respect, and strive to serve patients with the best care possible.
